The AST training course is delivered over four semesters and classroom size will
be limited to approximately fifteen students in order to ensure an optimal amount
of interaction between student and instructor.

Semester 1: Basic Automotive Systems, Standard and Diesel Combustion
Engines, Transmission, Transaxles, Steering, Brakes and Suspension Systems, Safe
Operation of Automobiles, Basic Repair Diagnostics

Semester 2: Automotive Electrical & Electronic Systems, Climate
Control Systems, Repair and Rebuilding of Component Parts, Scheduled Maintenance
Programs, Vehicle Maintenance Manuals, Advanced Repair Diagnostics

Semester 3: Maintenance of Heavy Vehicles, Specialized Vehicle Systems

Semester 4: Management of a Vehicle Maintenance Shop: Staffing, Inventory
Management, Management & Proper Disposal of Hazardous Materials
Students have four hours of classroom studies from 8:00am to 12:00pm followed by
hands on training from 1:00pm to 3:30pm. Hands on training, or ATVI’s Externship
Program, includes vehicle maintenance at ATVI’s workstation. The workstation includes
a vehicle maintenance workshop (located next to the ATVI main building) that can
house up to ten cars at a time. Students will hone their skills by providing services
for private, commercial, and government vehicles. The funds generated from the workshop
will be used to contribute to ATVI’s goal of becoming a self-sustaining institute.
