The ATVI facility in the main campus consists
of 43 large classrooms, one library, two conference rooms, a student learning resource
center, administrative offices, and seven workshops. The 3rd level of the main academic building is near completion –
completion is estimated at MONTH 2010.
Once completed, it will increase the capacity of
the school by over 30%. Dormitories are available for 150 male students and 100
female students from the provinces. Students who apply and are competitively selected
from around the country are placed in specific disciplines based on interest and
meeting the literacy criteria for those sectors.
ATVI is headed by an Executive Director, an Afghanistan
national, who returned to Afghanistan from the U.S. He is not only proficient in
English, but also in Dari, Urdu and Pashtu.
The Executive Director is supported by a Chief Operational
Officer, an Afghan holding a PhD in Education Management from the U.S. who over
sees the Deputy Director for Academics and the Deputy Director of Administration
also plays in integral role in management oversight and quality assurance of ATVI
academics and administration. Each program has a Department Head who holds a postgraduate
degree with sufficient experience in the specific sector or trade.
Special efforts are made to recruit female applicants, specifically for ICT, construction,
business and agriculture/horticulture with the expectation that ATVI will be able
to extend education to even more female students in all sectors and trades in the
future.
